Scottsdale Matchmaker: Why Successful Newcomers Are Hiring a Private Matchmaker

The JAIDA Journal, The Scottsdale Issue

New to Scottsdale? Why America's Fastest-Growing Wealth City Is Turning to Matchmakers

The sunshine, the golf and the lower cost of living brought them here. What many successful newcomers have not found yet is someone to share it with.

Golden hour in the Sonoran Desert. For many newcomers, the right partner is what turns Scottsdale into home.

They came from Los Angeles, Orange County, Seattle and Chicago. They traded traffic for desert sunsets, sold the house that cost too much, and bought one with a view of Camelback or Pinnacle Peak. The career moved with them, or the business did. Life in Scottsdale is good.

And yet, for a surprising number of accomplished newcomers, one thing did not make the trip: a social circle deep enough to meet the right person. That is why Scottsdale, now the fastest-growing wealth city in America, has quietly become one of the country's most promising places for private matchmaking.

America's fastest-growing wealth city

According to Henley & Partners, Scottsdale's millionaire population grew 125 percent between 2014 and 2024, the fastest rate of any city in the United States. It is now home to about 14,800 millionaires, 64 centi-millionaires and five billionaires. (Henley & Partners)

The prosperity runs well beyond the very top. Scottsdale's median household income is $107,372, against a national median of $78,538, and the median home is valued at $709,900. (U.S. Census Bureau) This is a city of physicians, business owners, real estate and finance professionals, tech leaders and executives who have built strong careers and are ready for the next chapter.

A city of newcomers

Much of that growth arrived by moving truck. About 235,000 people moved to Arizona from other states in a single year, and California was the largest source, sending more than 52,000. (USAFacts, citing Census data) Over the past decade, more than 630,000 Californians have moved to Arizona, with Los Angeles, San Diego and Orange counties the most common starting points and the Phoenix metro the favorite destination. You can move your house, your business and your golf clubs. You cannot move your social circle.

Why meeting someone here is harder than it looks

Scottsdale is welcoming, beautiful and full of eligible people. Even so, newcomers often find dating unexpectedly difficult.

  • No built-in network. The friends, colleagues and family who once made introductions are back in California or the Midwest.
  • A seasonal city. Winter brings visitors and part-time residents, so it is not always clear who actually lives here and who is leaving in April.
  • Small private circles. Social life often runs through golf clubs, gated communities and charity boards, where privacy matters and gossip travels fast.
  • App fatigue. Profiles rarely reveal whether someone is local, serious or simply passing through.

How a private matchmaker shortens the search

A matchmaker gives newcomers what years of living somewhere normally provide: a trusted person who knows who is genuinely available and genuinely serious. At JAIDA, the process works like this.

  1. A confidential consultation

We learn about your life, your values, the move that brought you here and what you want next. Every client relationship is protected by a non-disclosure agreement.

  2. An active, human-led search

We look across Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Arcadia and Greater Phoenix for people who are local, relationship-ready and a strong fit.

  3. Verification before you meet

Identity, background, relationship history and intentions are confirmed before any introduction.

  4. Curated introductions

One thoughtful introduction at a time, with honest feedback after each date to refine the next.
